Sony's Returnal is coming to the PC, and while it does need a decent computer, only the amount of RAM really makes people think.

Returnal requires 32GB of RAM to run on the recommended specs, according to Steam's system requirements. Does that imply that a Slam redesign is not too far off for some PC gamers?

Returnal was first released for the PlayStation 5 and will now be available on PC sometime in 2023. As is to be expected from a PlayStation 5 exclusive, the game has stunning visuals, but most of the system requirements are fairly reasonable.

According to Steam, the minimum requirements include an Intel Core i5-6400 CPU and an Nvidia GeForce GTX 1060 GPU, which was previously the most frequently utilized GPU by Steam gamers. When compared to the rest of the build, the minimum RAM requirement of 16GB appears to be excessive, but it is common in AAA titles.

For a game that will be released in 2023, even the recommended specifications are understandable. Hardware like an RTX 2070 Super and a Core i7-8700 processor are not new. The RAM requirement, on the other hand, calls for a whopping 32GB.

We looked at some of the PC games that are currently the most taxing to put those numbers in perspective. Only 12GB of RAM is recommended by Cyberpunk 2077.

Microsoft Flight Simulator calls for 16 GB, and Marvel's Midnight Suns, which just came out, recommends the same amount.

However, if you don't mind playing on lower settings, 8 GB will do. The same is true for Spider-Man from Marvel: Marvel's Spider-Man: Remastered with Miles Morales.

Indeed, even titles that began on the PlayStation, for example, Strange: Choose 16GB for Legacy of Thieves instead. The same requirement applies to Deathloop, a PS5-only game that cannot be played on the PS4.
